Your Swiss Lakeside Experience

This tour was developed as an extension to the adjacently scheduled Swiss Berner Oberland Tour. However, all are welcome, and you need not join us on the Berner Oberland tour to participate in this fabulous tour.

On this 4 Day / 3 Night tour, you will join us on Lac Léman/Lake Geneva, the largest lake in the Alps, for a bit of French flair on the western side of Switzerland. Our tour is centered lakeside in the tranquil town of Morges, facing the incredible Mont Blanc. A century ago, the composer Igor Stravinsky chose Morges as the ideal location to settle for both calm and climate. You will adore it as well.

From Morges, we will visit Lausanne, the Olympic Capital. Lausanne has been home to the International Olympic Committee for over 100 years. The IOC has its official museum on the banks of Lake Geneva. At The Olympic Museum, we will trace the history of the games and see such things as the Olympic torches and medals from the Olympic games, as well as the equipment of the most famous athletes. We will also experience the heart of the old town and the majestic Lausanne Cathedral which overlooks the city. Built in the 12th and 13th centuries the Cathedral is considered one of the most beautiful gothic art monuments in Europe.

We will continue our travels around the lake to see the fabulous Chillon Castle. This 13th-century island fortress is Switzerland's most visited historical building and is one of the best-preserved medieval European castles. While in this area, we will switch gears as we discover a bit of film history visiting Chaplin’s World which is housed in the home where Charlie Chaplin lived for the last 25 years of his life. Another famous artist called the area home: Freddie Mercury. We will visit Montreux and see the iconic bronze statue of the singer/songwriter perched on the beautiful lakeside promenade which is also home to the annual famed Montreux Jazz Festival.

We cannot wait to introduce you to this fantastic area of Switzerland which is a beautiful compliment to the German-speaking side of the country that we discover on our subsequent Berner Oberland tour.
