Tour Overview

ITALY | Tuscany Ancora

What to Expect

We invite you to join us as we base ourselves in the heart of Italy: Tuscany. If you’ve visited Italy briefly before and yearned for more or you’ve always read about Tuscany and the culturally rich city of Florence, join us as we do a deep immersion into this beautiful region.

Our accommodations include seven nights in an idyllic Tuscan setting between Siena and Florence. With commanding views of Chianti and nestled into olive groves and vineyards, our home for the week is a farmhouse villa and adjacent outbuildings that have been restored into a retreat that preserves the beautiful characteristics of the original structure with open beam ceilings, brick arches, and terracotta floors.

A few highlights include expert-led VIP private tours of cities, towns, museums, and marketplaces. Plus, you will get the opportunity to eat at some of our friends’ homes and at our favorite restaurants in Italy. It’s safe to say that you will not go hungry!

We will provide plenty of free time for you to explore and encourage you to take advantage of your downtime by sipping a Negroni on the piazza.

We have designed an unforgettable 7-Night Tuscan adventure and we look forward to hosting you.

Piazza della Signoria, Florence

Tuscany Ancora was born from the requests of our tour alumni who wanted to return to Tuscany and experience even more of the immersive food, wine, art, and culture that they adored while on our Signature Tuscany tour. But this itinerary is for EVERYONE! Yes, it is a sequel or 2.0 version of our Signature Tour, but you certainly do not have to have traveled with us on that tour to have an experience that you will be reliving in your mind for years to come! The focus here is a bit more time to dig deep in Florence as well as a day trip to the Ligurian coast and the famed Cinque Terre. You will experience all of the magic that the Signature is known for with a bit of a fun twist!!

Unpack once and settle in to become a temporary local for a week while staying in our small Chianti hometown located between Florence and Siena. Your accommodations in apartment-style suites in a farmhouse villa surrounded by olive groves set the stage for your immersive week. You will also meet many of our friends and even join them for a meal in their homes!

On this tour, we will spend several days in Florence, the Cradle of the Renaissance. In Florence, we will visit the world-renowned Uffizzi Gallery to see works by such masters as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Caravaggio, and Raphael. You’ll traverse beautiful loggias full of both paintings and sculptures that will take your breath away.

As we walk through the art-filled city, you may feel inspired to create a bit of art of your own. We will have that opportunity with a flash art class. Come ready to have some fun while we learn from an accomplished artist.

Florence is still full of modern-day artisans who carry on the traditional crafts of the bygone days. Many are housed across the Arno River in an area called the Oltrarno. We will tour some of these artisans’ workshops and learn about their trades. This is a wonderful way to discover a unique souvenir from your visit to Florence.

Mangia! What would a visit to Italy be like without culinary elements?! We will embark on a gourmet market tour where you will learn and sample firsthand from producers of the delectable pastries, cured meats, and artisanal cheeses that abound in a hopping neighborhood market that is off the traditional tourist path.

We will not just taste the delicacies; we will get an opportunity to try our own hand in the kitchen as well with a private Italian cooking class. We will shop at the local market to pick the best of the day and take it back to our chef’s kitchen to prepare the freshest and most delectable Italian dishes!

Outside of Florence, we will visit the Ligurian Cinque Terre. This iconic grouping of colorful seaside villages cling to the hillsides overlooking azure Mediterranean waters. The harbors are teeming with fishing boats bringing in the catch of the day. Perhaps you will try this area’s most famous specialty: pesto!

Want to visit the Manhattan of Tuscany? We will visit the famed town of medieval towers, San Gimignano, and dine on a farm that produces the golden-hued vernaccia wine. We will also spend time in the renowned wine region of Chianti visiting several wine producers, discovering their cellars, and tasting their vintages.

In Hub & Spoke fashion, we will take advantage of any special events, festivals, or fun detours that present themselves during your stay. This is our home base in Italy, so come along with us for a trip full of deep, immersive cultural experiences that you won’t soon forget!
